Tell us a little about yourself

People ask me which is your first name and which is your last name, since both Daniel and Zachary can be either first or last names! No my parents did not plan that. Zachary wasn't a first name back in the 50's.

I love mornings. The earlier, the better. So starting the morning wake up call at 4 a.m. fits me just fine.

I like both sides of radio ... the on-air work / announcing and the technical work / fixing the equipment and computer programming.

Bob think of a clever question for this one: (I understand you once had lunch with Marconi)

I've worked in radio from the days when you used a grease pencil and special scotch tape to edit mylar tape. You had to take the transmitter readings every 30 minutes and there was no such thing as satellite. It wasn't 'Classic Christian Radio'. That's just what we played!

bullet

Was there someone who was influential in leading you to Christ?

Chris, a dorm mate at college, and Dave Burnham, the pastor of the church at college.

bullet

Who would you most like to have coffee with?

My wife, Sharylee. Put an ice cube in her coffee, but make sure mine is steaming HOT!

bullet

Do you have any hidden talents?

I play piano. I enjoy baking bread (love that smell), and I like working in the garden.

bullet

Tell us about your first experience in radio:

In junior high, I would use a spoon as a pretend microphone and spin 45’s in my bedroom. I would pretend to be the DJ on KQV the local top 40 station in Pittsburgh. My first time on the air was with a campus radio station at the University of Akron. 10 watts! Wow!

bullet

What food do you always have to have in the house?

Peanut Butter! I see Bob, the station manager, likes PB too!

bullet

What is your life's passion?

Missions technical support projects.

bullet

Tell us about your family:

I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. I’ve lived in Alaska for 23 years and met my wife there (although she is from Minnesota). We have three daughters, Adora, Arlynn and Ava.

bullet

Who do people say you most resemble?

A Jewish rabbi. Must be the red beard.

bullet

What is your favorite late night snack?

Earl Grey Tea
