Was there someone who was
influential in leading you to Christ?
|
My biggest and greatest
influence to this day was the woman I met in January of 1991, the
former wife of my husband's Air Force aircraft commander, Debbie
Hargis, now known as Debbie Harsh. She is about eight years my
senior, and at my age of 21, was like an older, spiritually mature
sister who made it her life's work at that time to saturate my brain
with the knowledge of the Lord, helped us find a church to attend and
committed herself, along with the wives of my husband's other
crewmembers, to hold a weekly Bible study with me. She and I are as
close as any biological sisters could be, if not more so, and we keep
in touch regularly, though she is currently living in Tucson, AZ.
 |
Who would
you most like to have coffee with?
|
It's been nine years since I
saw Debbie last, and quite honestly, I'd give anything to sit down
with her again and just talk in person. Biblically, most definitely
King David, without a doubt.
 |
Do you have
any hidden talents?
|
I don't know how well
they're hidden, but I do sing and play the piano, and I've been told I
can act and do fairly good impressions of certain people or
situations.
 |
How would
you like your tombstone epitaph to read?
|
"The meaning of life was
never a mysterious question. The answer is love, and I was blessed
enough to have more than my share."
 |
Do you have
a pet peeve?
|
I have SEVERAL pet peeves,
but I guess my chief one would be stepping on a wet bathroom floor
wearing socks, a pet peeve I credit my children with helping me
develop.
 |
What food do you always have
to have in the house?
|
Licorice, little cherry
bites in an apple-shaped glass jar. Also more cereal than most
companies can make in one day.
 |
What is your
life's passion?
|
I am passionate about the
spiritual welfare of today's teenagers, because I feel strongly that
too many adults shy away from them at a critical time when they need
us most, and I want to be the difference that helps them make better
choices for themselves, to make them know they are loved, they matter,
and that God loves them most of all.
 |
Tell
us about your family
|
My wonderful family consists
of my husband of thirteen years and our two children, Taylor Nicole,
age 11, and Alexander Michael, age 7, whom we simply call Alex. In
this community we are blessed to have members of my husband's family
living close all around us, which to most wives would seem like a
nightmare, but it has been a true blessing and gift and an asset in
the lives of my children.
 |
Who do
people say you most resemble?
|
With absolutely no
exception, on a regular basis and since Molly Shannon the actress has
been on Saturday Night Live and appeared in various other movies since
1996 or so, I have been told I look like her, to the point that people
insist I could pretend to be her out in public if I wanted. That's
not a social experiment I'm currently ready to embrace.
 |
Tell us
about other interesting jobs that you have had:
|
Well, the most interesting
other job I would have had would have been my time in the Air Force,
working as an Aircrew Life Support Specialist, someone who inspects
and maintains aircrew safety equipment such as parachutes, oxygen
masks, helmets, life rafts, survival kits and chemical warfare gear.
I also met some VERY interesting individuals working the front desk at
a local hotel, including one of our esteemed director's daughters, and
then of course I have managed the office of a self-destructive
construction company that somehow manages to pull a rabbit out of a
hat with tremendous skill every month, most likely due to crew talent
with no credit to ownership whatsoever.
 |
What do you
like to do in your spare time?
|
In my spare time, I love to
read, mostly Christian books, but also Reader's Digest, Guideposts, or
various other magazines with subjects of interest for me, articles on
marriage and family or parenting, to see how today's values either
conflict or support the Lord's plans for these things.
 |
What is your
favorite late night snack?
|
I try not to eat too late at
night, but if I'm desperate, oh man, it could be anything from ice
cream to cereal to a leftover piece of cold steak--seriously!
